The Anaheim Ducks’ last season would be filled with ups and downs as the club attempted to achieve as many points as possible.

Then there was the time when players like Mason MacTavish were players who were seen as a strong move forward. However, other players became clear candidates to be back next season. While that’s not what Ducks fans will hope happens, there’s reason to believe some could be in a spot of contention.Here’s a closer look at three Anaheim Ducks whose performance could decline next season.

And that past season, Fowler became Anaheim’s top-scoring blueliner, scoring five goals and 39 points. Though his numbers weren’t bad considering the circumstances, two issues stood out.

First off, Fowler’s point production had dropped by about 10 points compared to the previous season. This could be a sign that Fowler’s production could have declined. If so, his point total could drop even further this season.

Secondly, Fowler’s score had become minus-36. Then this figure has become worrying, because last season Fowler’s score had become minus-23.

Of course, a plus/minus rating doesn’t necessarily reflect a player’s performance on the ice. Still, the numbers represent a concerning trend that hints at a significant regression this upcoming season.

2. Troy Terry

Terry would have crossed the 20-goal mark for the third consecutive year. However, his goal tally would have been significantly lower than two years earlier, when he scored 37 goals.

On top of that, Terry’s points total had dropped for the second consecutive season last season, going from a career-high 67 points in 2021-22 to 61 and then 54 last season.Thus, these numbers could be a sign that Terry’s form is on a downward slide. If that is the case, he could decline further this season, possibly leading to him missing the 20-goal mark.

The Ducks will need Terry to return to his old goal-scoring form to have any chance of climbing out of the basement.

1. Frank Vatrano

Last year, Vatrano may have been the top scorer for the Anaheim Ducks with 37 goals and 60 points. Those were again the best numbers of Vatrano’s career, far surpassing his previous career best of 41 points.

While last year’s points may have proved to be a necessary turning point in Vatrano’s career, it’s likely his form will decline this upcoming season.

In particular, fans would not be surprised to see Vatrano’s statistics return to his career averages of around 30 to 40 points per season.

Perhaps a more realistic expectation would be 20-plus goals and 40-plus points for the 30-year-old Duck.
