Joining other teams in this year’s “Kraft Hockeyville” in Sudbury, Ontario, the Pittsburgh Penguins triumphed over the Ottawa Senators. Thanks to their stars on Sunday, the Penguins came off with a 5-2 win in the game.
The event’s two headline performances were truly none other than the city of Pittsburgh’s pride and joy – Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin and as expected, they did not disappoint, for they have not disappointed their entire careers.
Though the Senators were heading into the first intermission with a 2-1 lead after goals from Nick Cousins and Tim Stutzle, the Penguins’ Crosby tied the game.
Malkin did not wait long to get the Scud, scoring twice in the second period and overall scoring the third hat trick at the end. However, with great luck, Crosby put any chance of Tampa coming back out of the equation when he scored his second of the season from the right half of the third period thus making it a two-goal difference.
Shots faced by one of the Ottawa goaltenders, Antonia Forsberg was 25 while she saved 21 shots. Essentially, the game offered these three big conclusions.
#1 Fans of Sudbury showed out in a big way
It was total sell out and this forced a different town to be planned for every season with $250,000 in ticket sales US instead of tickets. The joy, enthusiasm, and joy on the faces of fans most of who were children was evident in the significance of the event.
#2 Senators captain Brady Tkachuk escaped injury
Some severe injuries are those of the players of Los Angeles Kings Drew Doughty, and Montreal Canadiens Patrik Laine, injuries that happened during exhibition games and will keep the two players almost for a long time. Senators captain Brady Tkachuk made it rather uncomfortably close to that list when the Senators were up against the Florida Panthers on Sun. He was to be substituted in the last third after he attacked Kris Letang of the Penguins and said he was feeling aches in his shoulder.
Fortunately for Ottawa’s cause, Tkachuk returned in the later part of the hockey match and shot the final scene.
#3 The Senators mostly controlled the first-period
With the regulars in the Penguins’ roster, the Senators totally mesmerized their rivals in the first period which saw them lead in shooting with a 15-9 score line.
Even if the game didn’t go their way, the team was confident in a strong start as they viewed it positively and intended to treat the defeat positively for more lessons in the future.
