The Colorado Avalanche and Cale Makar have not had the best season so far. On Monday they were able to finish the game on the third straight defeat, this time to the New York Islanders with 6-2 score. Cale Makar performance
Makar discussed his performance after the football game.
“I think just a lot of myself, just not moving my feet, not playing my game. … I got to be better for these guys,” he said.
However, Makar was able to identify the following interesting things in the game.
“After the first two games, there were some positives to take out of this. It’s definitely a lot closer game if I don’t play tonight,” he added.
Avalanche began the match well, scoring the opening marker but gave second and third goals in reply. Makar over 30 minutes finally a goal of his although he criticized the timing of that goal before second break.
“It’s tough one in the period, knowing that they just scored,” he said.
The Avalanche consider Makar to be an essential acquisition, having been signed to a six-year, $54 million contract this year at a cap hit of $9 million.
“Overall, we got to be better. But yeah, as an individual, I got to be a lot better,” he added.
Cale Makar, in the game, contributed as an assistant on a goal but had as low as minus-3, which indicates he was on the wrong end of three goals. He had 2 shots on goal and a total ice time of 22:26.

The Avalanche opened the scoring when Calum Ritchie managed to net the puck for the first time in the middle of a minute and made it 1-0. Brock Nelson added another goal to the whole lead while being one man short for the Avalanche scored past Cale Makar.
Like in the third period and, midway through this period, Casey Mittelstadt made the score a tad more respectable at 4-2. However, goals close to the end of the game from Anthony Duclair and Mathew Barzal ensured it was all for the Islanders.
