Dave Roberts said that there was cause for optimism regarding progress by Yamamoto and described it as “a very positive day for Yoshinobu.” According to him, he will throw three more innings over the next five days before beginning his rehab.
“The ball was coming out of his hand with good life,” Roberts said. “He looks healthy. We can start working on command and other things if he responds well.” Yamamoto’s return in October would be a great boost for the Dodgers who have eyes fixed on a deep playoff run.
