Fleury Return in NHL Next Season:– Marc-Andre Fleury is a tremendous player and he’s still passionate, he still has a fire burning inside him to borrow that expression. There is no possibility of that fire being extinguished even by the end of this season. Fleury conducted an interview with NHL.com/fr in which he spoke at length about his future and his long NHL career. His interview lasted for half an hour. During his half-hour-long conversation, one thing that came to light was that he was not planning to hang up his mask.
Fleury said this week that the door to a comeback is more open today than it was in September or October. If you look at him several months ago, the Minnesota Wild goaltender looked like a player who was getting ready for the final stages of his NHL career. When he remembered this fact he flashed his customary smile and then collected his thoughts.
He said that he thought this would be his last season. When he spoke last summer, he told everyone that he had been preparing for this since last year. But his mood has changed now, this camp was not easy for him, he was having pain in his hips and he was seen losing games at the beginning of the season.
Fleury says he could return to Wild next season in interview with NHL OFFICIAL
He could not play the way he wanted. He is feeling better now and is able to play well. He has started enjoying playing hockey again. At first, he was not enjoying it because he had hip problems but his team was also struggling.
He was also honest when he played in Montreal in mid-October that he would wait until the end of the season and then make a decision on his future. He invited his friends and family to what was probably his last game at the Bell Center. He says it’s probably Minnesota or retirement. He has three children and he would not like to take them out of their upbringing. He himself has gone too far. He doesn’t want to uproot them. Minnesota means a lot to him because his girls his school and his friends are all there. Veronique, his wife, is also happy.
He is now in the final season of a two-year contract with an average annual value of $3.5 million. Fleury stated that money would not be an obstacle in future contract negotiations with the Wild. He also stated that even if he returned, he would only sign a one-year contract. After this, he will find it out from there.
On Thursday, they played a match against San Jose Sharks at Excel Energy Center which they won 3-1. The Wild then have 10 games remaining on their schedule. Vegas is eight points behind the Golden Knights in the race for the second wild card in the Western Conference, and so barring a historic comeback, Minnesota will likely miss the Stanley Cup playoffs. At some point during the next few weeks, Fleury will knock on the office door of his former Pittsburgh Penguins teammate, Wild general manager Bill Guerin
