Paul Bissonette is sure that Mitch Marner will have a great campaign and a shot at the Art Ross Trophy and Selke Trophy.
I predicted that he’s going to have a massive season and is going to win the Selke Trophy, Bissonnette said.
Bissonnette was right on Marner and training, Binning with McDavid, and of course session with MacKinnon. He also added Marner’s training, too, at high altitude with preparations at his Muskoka camp.
Bissonnette continued, “Honestly I do think Mitch Marner can score a hundred points next season”.
The last postseason witnessed the Toronto Maple Leafs in the middle of a media storm following their defeat by the Boston Bruins through this particular loss, there were flaring trade rumors. Among those fingered was Marner as he was in the final year of his contract and was often part of trade speculation rather than a trade asset. But despite these dialogues, no major changes occurred within the list regardless of that. Recently, attention has been paid to the question of penetrating the franchise with Marner.
Playing in the league since 2016 and up to this year, Mitch Marner has turned into one of the best regulars of the Maple Leafs. However, their playoff contribution has not been as good as expected.
Getting for the Selke Trophy and scoring 50 points in 57 postseason appearances will of course, draw some criticism with some people expecting more out of Marner in crucial moments of those games. This being said, however, the overriding emotion appears to be the Leaf’s possession is more important to the organization than seeking a player of like status.
Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving backs Mitch Marner amid criticism
on Tuesday’s episode of the *Spittin’ Chiclets* podcast, Maple Leafs GM, Brad Treliving talked about the approaching season and defended Mitch Marner against criticism made about his performance in the playoffs.
Treliving jumped to the defense of Marner, stating that it was unfair that he was receiving such criticism, because in today’s NHL, opposing players always expected the best from their opponents. He spoke about the fact that the team has to improve across the board and he referred to goaltending and defense. Treliving went on to heap more praise on Marner for his impressive production and effort stating how the forward had worked hard over the summer and returned to the team a new man.
“I know he was really dug in this summer — really dug in. He has that jump. He has that swagger. I am expecting a big year from Mitch,” Treliving said.
Treliving is confident about the game of Marner this season and also talked about his position in the organization. This encouragement from Marner corresponds with how the team has faith in his capabilities in their preparation for the outgoing season.
